History

1.  Our Goal is to recruit academically motivated students from economically disadvantaged communities and to sponsor them for higher education in their selected field of study. We do not prescribe nor select their field of study for them.

2. Teachers, educators and community officials from their local school nominate up to three 9th grade candidates who display academic strength on a consistent basis. Nominators provide introductory information on each candidate as part of a screening questionnaire and why they think their nominee will make a great Arodhum Scholar.

3. Initial applications are evaluated by our staff and each nominee is accessed based on their Strengths, Environment, and Motivation (STEM).

4. A selected group of nominees are invited for a group assessment. This is an opportunity for all nominees to interact with each other and with the Arodhum staff.

5.

The combination of grade performance, STEM value, and group interaction helps pare down the final list of potential candidates.

6. Arodhum Scholars are announced early summer which helps to facilitate the scholar's enrollment in their prospective field of study at a college or an approved educational institution.

7. Full scholarship is granted to students who qualify from the above selection process. Scholarship covers tuition as well as monthly living expenses. The tuition is paid directly to the educational institution. A pre-determined amount of monthly living expenses is offered.
8. After graduation, Arodhum tries to introduce and match its scholars with prospective employer for a mentored internship of ideally 1-2 yrs. Our objective is to enable our scholars to gain practical work life related skills and experience required for them to succeed on their own.
9. All Arodhum Scholars are required to participate in our annual workshops that provides them training in soft skills such as interpersonal communication, work ethics, time and money management, conflict management issues, technology and entrepreneurship.
10. Arodhum scholars who graduate and succeed through our program become Arodhum Alumni and commit to mentoring future scholars.
